Broken Top Mountain 05.19.2013

We climbed Broken Top from the Northwest Ridge Route this weekend; prehistoric and stunning.

Here are a few select pictures from the trip –

The trail follows along the creek with waterfalls and beautiful scenery along the way.

When we made it up to camp the mountain was veiled in mist. We were excited to start the climb in the morning.

As the shadows began to grow long we set up camp. The mountain was beaming from the sunset.

We got prepared to start the climb at 3:00AM.

As we made the NW summit ridge, dawn began to break over the Three Sisters.

After a short and rather nerve-wracking (for me at least, not Todd!) 5.1 pitch at the top, we made the summit at 8:00AM.

On our way back down the view of the Three Sisters was awesome.

The down climb got a little dicey as clouds rolled in and out.

When the clouds cleared we got more exceptional views of South Sister, Middle Sister.

We made it back to camp to reflect on the climb.

When we were leaving, Broken Top again was in the clouds. You can see the NW Ridge Route on the left that we climbed.

I’d like to say thank you to Todd Glew of Timberline Mountain Guides for guiding this trip.

At all times Todd was conscious of my safety, our surroundings, the conditions, navigation, and made for an all around incredible adventure.

Back home safe and sound.
